Abstract:
Post-tensioning delivers an active force. When post-tensioning strands are improperly placed, the active force can result in local failures such as blowouts or breakouts where the strand actually pulls through the concrete. These and other problems are dangerous when they occur and very difficult and expensive to repair. Many of these problems can be prevented by good inspection.
