Abstract:
Describes construction of a conventionally reinforced concrete basin complex for an industrial wastewater treatment plant containing 79,000 yd3 of concrete and 8700 tons of reinforcing steel. A method of leak detection was employed that provides a positive and immediate indication of leakage, assessment of leakage quantity, and ready access for repair for the 8-acre structure. The structure contains innovative details provided through extensive constructability review and value awareness study during the conceptual engineering phase.
