Abstract:
The aim of this research is to provide an efficient and direct solution scheme for use in computer-aided design on uniaxially loaded reinforced concrete short columns. Complete section strength equations were derived with two variables, namely, steel ratio {rho} and position of neutral axis c. Solutions were obtained quickly with multivariable iteration techniques and the minimum longitudinal steel. This method is reliable and can be used with any size of computer. In fact, a microcomputer can be used to handle the design of thousands of reinforced columns in only a few seconds.
