Abstract:
The ACI Building Code requirements for control of two-way slab deflections are reviewed. Results of a parametric study are summarized, and modifications to the code minimum thickness equation are presented. Recommendations for code changes are made to insure that proper consideration is given to restraint cracking, construction loading, and long-time deflections for two-way slab systems.
