Abstract:
The concept of yield line analysis of reinforced concrete slabs was introduced in the 1920s. Yield line analysis is a limit design method using rigid plastic theory to determine the ultimate load-carrying capacity of slabs. The computer program described is an attempt to make the yield line analysis a more desirable tool for designers as well as a learning aid for students to obtain a better understanding of failure mechanisms of slabs.
