Abstract:
Describes laboratory and field tests on a nonchloride, nonalkaline antifreezing admixture. Laboratory tests investigated temperature of pore water, rate of heat evolution, strength development, freeze-thaw resistance, and alkali-aggregate reaction. Field tests examined the performance characteristics of concrete in cold weather. Test results showed that admixture effectively prevents freezing of fresh concrete.
