Abstract:
Carbonation test results of mortars covering the range of mix proportions and consistencies commonly employed in ferrocement construction are reported. Test results, as discussed in this paper, indicate that carbonation may be a serious problem for ferrocement structures unless adequate measures are undertaken during design and construction stages. Based on test results, equations are proposed to predict long-term carbonation depth, and some guidelines are given to correlate it with normal exposure.
