Abstract:
A new testing technique, which simulates uniform bond stress distribution along a reinforcing bar, is presented. This method enables the determination of the complete bond stress-versus slip response and enables the investigation of both pullout and splitting failures. Sample tests were performed to demonstrate the testing technique. This testing technique can be used to investigate the bond performance of reinforcing bars and prestressing strand and to study the influence of concrete strength and presence of epoxy coating.
