Abstract:
The paper summarises the current knowledge of the behaviour of concrete structures in fire. It reviews briefly the relationship between safety and economy. It recommends the acceptance of partial factors of safety covering the nature of the structure and the consquences of failure in addition to those covering materials and loads.
