Title: Slenderness Effects in Reinforced Concrete Square Columns
Author(s): James Colville
Publication: Special Publication
Appears on pages(s): 165-192
Keywords: axial loads; bending moments; columns (supports); composite construction (concrete and steel, etc.); compressive strength; cracking (fracturing); displacement; eccentric loads; finite element method; loads (forces); modulus of elasticity; moments
Abstract:The purpose of this work is to develop a simplified procedure for estimating the effects of tension cracking, nonlinearity of concrete in compression, yielding of the steel, and the effects of secondary bending on the displacements and moments in eccentrically loaded columns bent in single curvature.
