Title: Critical Review of the Design of Reinforced Concrete Columns
Author(s): I. Martin, J. G. MacGregor, E. 0. Pfrang, and J. E. Breen
Publication: Special Publication
Appears on pages(s): 13-53
Abstract:Compares ACI Building Code design procedure with Comite Europeen du Beton (CEB) procedure and other more elaborate methods of predicting the behavior of tied and spirally reinforced columns. The factors of safety in the material specifications, in the load and capacity reduction factors, and in the design equations for short columns are analyzed separately. The ACI and CEB design equations for slender columns are compared with a theoretical method of analysis.
