Abstract:
The most important recent development in reinforced concrete building construction is the introduction and rapid extension of the flat slab type of floor. The advantages of this construction, from the standpoint of both the occupant and the builder, are very generally admitted. It cannot, however, hope to receive the full confidence of engineers until the nature of the structural action in such floors is understood.
