Abstract:
Engineers and contractors for reinforced concrete structures have long felt the need of some standard method of measuring quantities in conctracts for concrete work. This is especially the case in drawing up and adjusting unit price contracts. At present, although most enigneers and contractors measure and estimate on the same general prinicples, they nearly all differ in the details of their work, with the result that disputes occur and sometimes serious loss is occasioned or injustice done. A feeling exists that some of the prinicples or fundamental rules of measurement are founded on a wrong bais and need careful consideration and revision. With this object in view this Committee was appointed last year to consider the matter and now submits its report.
