Abstract:
This paper relates entireley to the application of reinforced concrete to bridge repairs and new construction and is not so general in its scope as the title would seem to imply. It is not the purpose of the author to describe in detail the methods of design and construction of the large concrete bridges which have recently been built by the city or which are now in progress, but rather to call attention in a general way to some of the important features and problems which confront the enigneer in the selection of the type of bridge best adapted to the site, traffic and other conditions, and the funds available for the purpose.
