Abstract:
Mark Twain once said that he had nothing against the German language, he would just like to reform it. I have nothing against reinforced concrete, I would just like to reform it. At the outset I wish to make two statements that no sane engineer can condradict. The first is: There are entirely too many failures in reinforced concrete construction. The second is: There has been entirely too little attention paid to these failures.
