Abstract:
A large industrial plant is in itself a thriving town with an exceedingly large population and traffic for the area covered. In this community the populace keeps passing back and forth day and night, with rush hours during labor shifts. Traffic continues between buildings, and to and from neighboring towns or cities. Workmen on foot, motor trucks loaded with merchandise, passenger cars, laborers with wheelbarrows-all must pass iver the streets of this community, all will be hindered by dust or mud. For protection from fire, it must be possible to move apparatus with speed and certainity in the industrial plant, just as in any city or town.
