Abstract:
Two wind storms of major intensity have occurred in densely settled portions of North America within a period of nineteen months. These storms left individual records of destruction and stability of structures which have contributed immeasurably to our knowledge of building. Collectively, they permit us to draw certain conclusions which should be of material assistance to engineers and architects who must design stuctures which may be subjected to similar violent disturbances.
