Author(s): James Lefter
Publication: Concrete International
Appears on pages(s): 57-62
Keywords: design responsibility; construction contracts; partnering; safety
Abstract:The premise of this article is that no member of the Owner/Design Professional/Constructor team knows all responsibilities or levels of risk assumed when entering into a design or construction contract. Court decisions on responsibility differ widely and often do not reflect industry guidelines. The author suggests back-up systems of responsibility and provides recommendations to promote teamwork in design and construction of major projects.
