Abstract:
In most European countries, modern theories regarding structural concrete behavior changed in the years of reconstruction and economic growth after World War II. This theory development paralleled the development of concrete construction in Italy. During that same time, European researchers and scientists were reevaluating the concepts that formed the basis for current code requirements. Also, they were working toward establishing an international model to serve as a basis for a system of unified codes. In Part 2, we outline the role played by Italians in developing theories and unifying codes.
