Abstract:
In the summer of 2002, Purdue University began construction on the $11 million Robert L. and Terry L. Bowen Laboratory for Large-Scale Civil Engineering Research. One of the most prominent components in the structural testing area of the Bowen Lab is a 40-ft-tall (13 m) strong wall (also called a reaction wall). Self-consolidating concrete allowed the w/c to be kept very low while maintaining high fluidity in the fresh concrete. This article presents the results of trial placements conducted.
