Abstract:
In these changing times, structural designers must consider blast loading more frequently than in the past. To assist designers in this task, the author has developed a series of tables that compare the loading, analysis, and design of reinforced concrete buildings subjected to earthquakes to those affected by blasts. Both seismic and blast loading are unpredictable and can produce large magnitude forces that may be difficult to accommodate in structural design.
