Abstract:
This paper illustrates examples where the provisions of the 2002 ACI Code on limits of reinforcement in flexural members lead to unintended but erroneous conclusions. Following an analysis of the causes of error, a simple, rational, and reliable solution is offered that preserves the real intent of the code and is very likely to appeal to all users.
