Abstract:
The strength and usablity of precast concrete floor joists left in the open witout any protection for a year, when a housing project was abandoned, were proved by load test on a slab section incorporating the poorest joists. This paper describes the condtion of the joists, the load test results, and indicates that a greater tolerance can be safely permitted in the visible defects of precast concrete joists.
