Abstract:
Prestressing has offered a solution to the problem of getting the steel and concrete in reinforced concrete to act together more as a homogenous whole then has heretofore been possible. Results of experiments with various types of prestressed piling have proved the applicablity of this construction technique and illustrate the savings in materials that accrue from the use of prestressing. Use of prestressing in concrete in sheet piling and hollow concrete piles is described.
