Abstract:Pier No. 57 on the Hudson River in New York City has received considerable publicity due to its unique design. Of particular interest to the construction industry are the manufacturing methods employed in the fabrication of the 3148 precast, prestressed concrete stringers. The pre-tensioning method was selected. Casting beds, forms, tensioning equipment, and manufacturing procedure are described.
