Abstract:
Portions of concrete pipe were removed from five existing water lines and analyzed to determine the extent of any leaching of lime that might have oc-curred. The selected earn .ples represented various types and ages of pipe as well as exposrlre to waters possessing several degrees of aggressiveness. The cementitious structure of all test specimens was sound and appeared to be well bonded to the aggregate. Except for a thin inside surface layer usu-ally of tlhe order of 0.03 in., none of the samples had experienced any significant leaching of lime.
