Abstract:
An investigation to study the behavior of thick slabs using approxinately 1/5 scale models is presented. Such slabs occur as pile caps and were designed recently without any provisions in the ACI Building Code. The present work substantiates earlier theorectical work and endorses revision of Eq. (I I-27) of the AC1 Building Code and design provisions for deep beams and thick pile caps proposed by the authors in a 1980 paper.
