Abstract:Based on the degree of fixity concept outlined by Shepfey, the author develops a quick method for evaluating bending moments in a reticulated plane frame subjected to lateral loads. The method is not exact, but it is good enough in view of uncertanties in the evaluation of lateral load magnitudes and can be programmed in a minicomputer without the need of a great memory, unlike matrix methods.
