Abstract:
Approximately 94,000 cu yd (71,827m3) of cast-in-place concrete, of which 35 percent was high-strength concrete, was used to complete the 75-story f Texas Commerce Tower building. The use of readily available fly ash was considered. Because of limited experience in the area with the use of the Class C fly ash for high-strength concrete, comprehensive studies and tests were made to determine material properties and economical mixture proportions. The results of these tests are reported as well as the use of fly ash mixtures for construction.* .
