Abstract:
An industrial blastfurnace slag and a melilte mixture were melted to a glassy state and formed into dishks. The disks were zebra-masked with an adhesive tape and coated with Au. They were then removed and hydrated in Ca(OH)2 showed two types of morphologies viz. card-house structure and a spherical hydrate forming on the outside of the other structure. The morphology of the hydrates formed in the hydrated portland cemnt paste was different. Inner hydrated layer and skeleton hydrated layer could be distinguished. The inner layer forms only at early periods. Skeleton-type occurs at ta faster rate at 60-80oC. From the analysis of Ca, Al, Si and Mg, the latent hydraulic property of the glassy slag and the sequence of the layers could be explained.
