Abstract:
The presenter will outline the general responsibilities for design and certification of wind turbine substructures before focusing on the typical design process for offshore wind concrete substructures. These approximately 10,000-ton heavy structures are designed for a complex exposure history: from their unique modular construction at the port and deployment to their offshore installation site; complex operation under normal, fatigue, and abnormal conditions in a marine environment; to finally decommissioning at the end of their service life. The presentation will layout the critical design criteria, suitable analysis approaches, and the applicable codes to design such structures.
