Abstract:
The LNG tank of ENAGAS, at Huelva, is a double walled structure, with a 60.000 cubic meters inner tank made of cryogenic 9% nickel steel and an outer containment tank of prestressed concrete. The main elements of the outer tank are: -The 54,01 m diameter base slab, poured on a compacted fill. -The cylindrical wall, 0,70 m thick, 40,85 m high and 49,41 m internal diameter. -The spherical dome, of reinforced concrete, 0,30 m thick and radius 49,41 m. It's concrete was casted on a steel dome lifted by injecting air under pressure underneath the dome. The prestressed concrete tank was designed to withstand operating loads, the hydrostatic pressure and thermal gradient of the spilled LNG, hydraulic and pneumatic tests, earthquake loadings, aircraft impact and burnout.
