Abstract:
This paper presents the research conducted under ARCER Mark to determine the stress-strain characteristic curves of the weldable special ductility steel bearing the ARCER Mark. The tests to determine the tensile characteristics of special ductility weldable steel bearing the ARCER Mark were conducted on ribbed bars provided by all the factories that are authorised to use the Mark, in three series of diameters, small, medium and large, established by the EHE code, and in two grades of steel bars, B400SD and B500SD. The study was performed in 18,200 tests at the laboratories of the factories as well as 228 comparative tests carried out at two external laboratories. The statistical analysis has demonstrated that all the stressstrain characteristic curves of the weldable special ductility steel bearing the ARCER Mark studied were more than compliant with the UNE 36065:2000EX Standard prescriptions, as well as having determined the characteristic curves for two grades of steel bars, B400SD and B500SD. The study of the curves indicates that the weldable special ductility steel bearing the ARCER Mark had higher toughness values than required in the UNE 36065:2000EX Standard. This is very important for the designers so that they can use, for example, plastic analysis or evaluate the actual loads acting on the structure.
