Abstract:
Two reservoirs have been projected and constructed to provide the new Islamic Universitiy in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) of water. One of them is at ground level and has a capacity of 18.000 cubic metres while de other one, of 2.500, is elevated. The ground reservoir has a circular plan with an external diameter of 72,0 m and a water height of 5,50 m. The walls are of reinforced concrete with stayed counterforts. The roof is a slab supported on the perimetric walls and restrained at intermediate columns. The elevated reservoir has a total height of 85,0 m over the ground level. The water tank is placed between the references of 50,0 and 75,0 m, and has a maximum water height of 15,0 m. On the upper part of the tank there are a technical floor, a service floor and a belvedere floor. Over the tank there is also a restaurant hung to the roof which is stayed to the shaft. The shaft has an octogonal hollow section of 8,40 m.
