Abstract:
In his keynote address at the International Conference on Alkali-Aggregate Reaction, held in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, in August 1986, the author challenged participants to reduce public concern about sudden structural concrete failures related to the alkali-aggregate reaction by better communicating to concrete users the present state of knowledge and its limitations.
