Abstract: The New Melones Projet sucessfully used shotcrete, in conjunction with 10' and 15' rock bolts, as a primary tunnel support method. The New Melones Diversion Tunnel was 3,800 feet long with a horseshoe cross-section nominally 30' wide by 18' to 24' below spring line.
