Abstract:
In 1920 a pier was built on the North Atlantic Coast, which was supported by concrete caissons. These caissons were approximately four feet in diameter and varied in length from 40 to 60 ft. of soft bay bottom to hard pan. of water at high tide, and from 10 to 30 ft. of soft bay bottom to hard pan.
