Abstract:
The Long Key Bridge, currently under construction in the Florida Keys south of Miami, is frequently used as an example of today’s innovations in concrete segmental bridge design. Construction on the span between Long Key and Conch Key started in Dec. 1978 and completion is anticipated in Oct. 1980. A total of 722 segments will be required to complete the structure, one of a series of spans designed to replace the existing viaduct serving the islands.
