Abstract:
To provide a uniform method of characterizing, measuring, and evaluating cracking in concrete walls, the Concrete Cracking Committee of the Instituto del Cemento y del Hormigón de Chile (ICH) has developed Technical Specification ET 001-05, “Non-Structural Cracking in Reinforced Concrete Walls.” It can be used as a cracking standard when conceiving, designing, and building a reinforced concrete structure. By defining cracking with independent parameters that are checked at the end of the project, the specification provides the owner with a way of anticipating the results of the project prior to construction.
