Abstract:
The existing Tappan Zee Bridge across the Hudson River between Westchester and Rockland Counties in New York State is being replaced with the New NY Bridge. A central requirement of the project is to achieve a 100-year service life without major rehabilitation. Cast-in-place concrete is a major material in the new bridge and will be in severe exposure conditions. The article discusses concrete production and concrete quality organization, as well as oversight testing and evaluation.
