Abstract:
This technical note describes the influence of wind speed on the thermal behavior of bridges. It supplements the paper 'Thermal Movements of Concrete Bridges: Field Measurements and Methods of Prediction' published in Volume 1 of the Proceedings. A theoretical method of calculating bridge termperatures was developed which gave good agreement with measured values. Using this theoretical method, it is shown that the influence of the wind speed is greater on the values of the maximum bridge temperature than on the minimum values.
