ACI’s 2026 Professors’ Workshop was successfully held in July at ACI Headquarters in Farmington Hills, MI. The workshop was a three-phase program designed to support faculty in updating and strengthening existing concrete-related courses through expert-led instruction, active learning strategies, and hands-on experiences. For the first time ever, the workshop completely sold out and registration closed early. The first phase consisted of asynchronous online learning, where participants engaged in self-paced presentations through ACI University, with quizzes and assignments reinforcing key concepts that could be integrated into curriculums. The second phase was a synchronous virtual session on July 13, offering interactive presentations and discussions to refine course development strategies. Faculty experts lead sessions on fundamental concrete concepts, active learning in virtual environments, course structuring, and flipped classroom techniques. This session provided an opportunity for participants to ask questions and exchange ideas while preparing for the final phase, a 2 day in person workshop at ACI Headquarters on July 21 & 22. While at Headquarters, participants applied concepts from the online modules through hands-on demonstrations, active learning exercises, and peer collaboration. The class was also treated to a surprise visit by ACI President Scott Anderson and the ACI Executive Committee, who were meeting at the same time as the workshop. The 2027 Professors’ Workshop will be structured similarly to the 2026 workshop and will be held in July 2027. Spots filled quickly for the 2026 event and registration was closed early, so prospective participants should be on the lookout for registration for next year’s event to open in early 2027.
