The American Concrete Institute (ACI) joined leading concrete professional and industry organizations from around the world at the 7th fib Congress in Lisbon, Portugal, June 15–19. The Congress brought together more than 1,000 engineers, researchers, designers, and construction professionals from around the world to discuss the future of concrete, sustainability, and innovation. Representing ACI, ACI President Scott Anderson delivered a presentation highlighting the Institute’s global reach, strategic priorities, and commitment to advancing concrete knowledge worldwide. The presentation provided attendees with an overview of ACI’s extensive international network of Members, Chapters, Allied Organizations, and technical committees, as well as the organization’s strategic plan. Anderson also showcased ACI’s internationally recognized certification programs, which help establish industry standards and professional competency across the concrete construction sector, along with ACI’s portfolio of education programs designed to support students and professionals throughout their careers. ACI presented alongside a diverse group of international organizations, including: ABCIC – Associação Brasileira da Construção Industrializada de Concreto ABECE – Associação Brasileira de Engenharia e Consultoria EstruturalACHE – Asociación Española de Ingeniería Estructural IABSE – International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering RILEM – International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures ALCONPAT – Asociación Latinoamericana de Control de Calidad, Patología y Recuperación de la Construcción ECSN – European Concrete Societies Network GLOBE – Global Consensus on Sustainability in the Built Environment IBRACON – Instituto Brasileiro do Concreto PCI – Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute Under the theme “Structural Concrete 2050: Towards Carbon Neutrality, AI Design, and Robotic Construction,” the 7th fib Congress explored emerging technologies, sustainable construction practices, artificial intelligence applications, and innovative approaches to concrete design and construction. ACI’s participation reinforced its commitment to global engagement and knowledge sharing, while strengthening relationships with peer organizations that collectively shape the future of the concrete community.
