In August 2021, ACI joined leading organizations in sending a letter to the U.S. Congress to provide dedicated funding through the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for the adoption and effective implementation of hazard-resistant building codes.
The letter -- addressed to the Chairs of the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure and U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committees -- supports an effort to provide $300 million in dedicated funding through FEMA for the adoption and effective implementation of hazard resistant building codes within the $3.5T reconciliation package that Congress is currently developing.
Joining this effort aligns with ACI’s position statements -- notably current code and standard adoption, construction volume, public good, and enhanced resilience.
