Meeting: ACI-fib Symposium: Sustainability of Concrete Slabs, during The ACI Concrete Convention and Exposition – Fall 2020, October 25-29, 2020, Raleigh, NC; sponsored by Joint ACI-ASCE Committee 421, Design of Reinforced Concrete Slabs, and fib.
Solicited: The symposium will focus on the design of concrete slabs to sustain satisfactory serviceability over a long life span. The goal is to develop a guide on the design of relatively thin slabs needing no repair over a service life exceeding 100 years. Papers addressing vulnerability of slabs to excessive deflection or punching are invited. Topics include shear and flexural reinforcements, prestressing, contracted life span, time-dependent deformations, cracking, permissible deflection, and thickness for preliminary design. An ACI Special Publication is intended.
Requirements: 1) presentation title; 2) author/speaker name(s), job title, organization, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address; and 3) abstract of 150 words maximum.
Deadline: Abstracts are due by March 30, 2019.
