MINI SESSION: Mixture Design and Proportioning for Pervious Concrete Pavements

This session will present the latest information and committee guidance on proportioning pervious concrete mixtures. Recommendations for improving performance are also provided.

Learning Objectives:
(1) Explain the background and context of mixture design and proportioning for concrete pavements as well as the new procedure recommended for the ACI 522 Guide on Pervious Concrete;
(2) Review the factors that distinguish between good and poor field performance;
(3) Recognize the basics of pervious concrete mixture design and proportioning and explain how to avoid clogging of pervious concrete during placement;
(4) Discuss how internal curing can improve pervious concrete performance Discuss how to assess pervious concrete performance in the field.
