This convention has been cancelled. Following cancellation of the ACI Concrete Convention in Rosemont/Chicago, the American Concrete Institute has transitioned its popular spring convention into ACI Virtual Committee Days.  To be held online from March 28-April 2, 2020, the ACI Virtual Committee Days will allow the important technical work of the Institute to move forward.    Other convention events/activities including ACI technical sessions, mini-sessions, award presentations, student competitions, and social events will not take place during ACI Virtual Committee Days.  VIEW FULL STATEMENT.

Participate virtually by clicking this link: Virtual Meeting Description: Conventional design approach for self consolidating concrete (SCC) results in mixtures with high binder content to secure proper workability. Reducing the binder content and clinker factor can lead to more eco efficient and economical SCC with lower thermal and drying shrinkage characteristics. The scope involves the optimization of granular bulk skeleton to minimize paste content and the use of adapted rheological approaches to optimize workability of eco low-binder SCC. The use of recycled materials to enhance the sustainability of SCC will be discussed. Case studies using low cement SCC and extreme SCC with very low binder content will be presented. Academic, industry, and agency representatives should attend this session.
Learning Objectives:
(1) Develop the mixture design and packing density optimization of low-binder content of SCC;
(2) Explain rheological properties and control of SCC;
(3) Describe performance of low-binder SCC from case studies involving major construction project in cold and hot climates;
(4) Summarize design and construction practices of sustainable concrete mixtures for building and infrastructure construction.

This session has been AIA/ICC approved for 1 CEU/PDH credit.
