The new Guide for Responsibility in Concrete Rehabilitation, developed by Committee 132, covers the responsibility of key team members in a rehabilitation program, many of which vary significantly from those occurring in new construction. Clear program definition and delineation of program goals, performance expectations, and service life and maintenance cycles, are essential. The standard of care for the licensed design professional is often expanded in rehabilitation programs, beginning with condition assessments. Concealed and changed field conditions are a fundamental part of rehabilitation. The program will benefit facility owners, design professionals, contractors and material suppliers who undertake rehabilitation programs.

Learning Objectives:
(1) Develop an understanding of the contract requirements for concrete rehabilitation projects compared to new concrete construction;
(2) Identify challenges associated with limited condition assessments that fail to expose concealed distress locations, leading to costly change orders and project delays during construction;
(3) State program goals for structural performance, repair design, service life, and maintenance;
(4) Discuss solutions for rehabilitation challenges from perspective of design professionals, contractors, material manufacturers, and owner.

This session has been approved by AIA and ICC for 2 PDHs (0.2 CEUs). Please note: You must attend the live session for the entire duration to receive credit. On-demand sessions do not qualify for PDH/CEU credit.

Aero Aggregates® Ultra-Lightweight Foamed Glass Aggregates (UL-FGA®) are made in Philadelphia from 99% recycled container glass. UL-FGA is one of the lightest aggregates on the market — 85% lighter than traditional aggregate and delivering up to 100 cu yds per truckload. Each Aero Aggregates location diverts the equivalent of over 140 million glass bottles per year from landfills and reduces the number of trucks on the road due to the increased volume per delivery! Aero’s Aerolite product line features smaller gradations of foamed glass aggregate that have been specifically engineered for concrete production. Aerolite is an ASTM C330 compliant aggregate. For every cubic yard of Aerolite made (120) glass bottles are diverted from landfills.
