Description:
WASCON (The International Conference on the Environmental and Technical Implications of Construction with Alternative Materials) is a long-standing international conference that has been held every three years since 1991. It provides a dedicated forum for the exchange of ideas, experiences, and the latest research at both national and international levels, focusing on the use of waste materials, industrial by-products, and other recycled resources in construction. The conference brings together researchers, engineers, policymakers, and industry professionals to discuss environmental performance, technical feasibility, and regulatory aspects related to alternative construction materials. Through keynote lectures, technical sessions, and discussions, WASCON promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing across regions and sectors. A key strength of WASCON lies in its strong scientific foundation. The numerous peer-reviewed contributions presented at each conference form an important knowledge base supporting the safe and effective implementation of alternative materials in construction practice. Over more than three decades, WASCON has played a significant role in advancing sustainable construction, encouraging innovation, and contributing to the transition toward a circular economy in the construction sector.
