Description

This module covers Chapter 7 of ACI 355.4-11, “Qualification of Post-Installed Adhesive Anchors in Concrete (ACI 355.4-11).” This document prescribes testing programs and evaluation requirements for post-installed adhesive anchors intended for use in concrete under the design provisions of ACI 318. This chapter covers the reliability testing requirements including sensitivity to hole cleaning (dry, saturated, and submerged concrete),mixing effort, moisture (dry, saturated, and submerged concrete), crack width (in low-strength and high-strength concrete), freezing and thawing, and sustained loading.

1. Recognize the purpose of reliability testing to establish the anchor system is capable of safe, effective behavior under normal and adverse installation conditions;

2. Identify the procedures for the sensitivity testing of anchor systems for various conditions including freezing and thawing, mixing effort, hole cleaning, moisture, crack width, and sustained loading;

3. Understand the labeling for products not tested for sensitivity to installation orientation; and

4. Know that the reliability tests are not accountable for addressing gross installation errors such as deviations from the specified embedment depth, and use of a nominal diameter drill bit other than that specified.
